And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
Pae shares her reflections on this verse…
Because a house is something my husband and I don’t have the capacity to purchase outright, we had to put a deposit on one and make periodical payments. Fulfilling this contract takes years of work and throughout these years, our circumstances changed as we journeyed through various seasons in our life. Just because our financial situation changed, it does not release us from the promise we made to the bank. We have had to pursue different avenues to ensure we meet our payments as we do not want to lose our house. We entered this contract knowing that at the end, our reward is to own the house.
Our relationship with God is much like this. We enter into a relationship with Him knowing our reward is to be with Him eternally.
On our journey, we will climb mountains and go through valleys. We have absolutely awesome seasons and of course the not-so-great ones. Our circumstances and emotions change, but our reward does not. God does not cancel our reward because we defaulted (and continue to do so). We get back up, repent and keep pursuing Him (diligently seek Him). It is only by faith that we know He exists, so without faith, it is impossible to have a relationship with God, therefore impossible to please Him.
