He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Psalm 23:3

Anish shares his reflections on this verse…

We are prone to go astray like sheep, but our God promises that He will restore us and lead us on the righteous path. And our God is doing it for His name’s sake. That is where God’s name plays much importance for those who follow Him. Our God has different compound names found in the Bible. The first two verses of this psalms can be condensed into three names:
Jehovah Raah
Jehovah Jireh
Jehovah Shalom

Now, let us go through the other names of our God.

Jehovah Rapha: When separated, these two Hebrew words mean “God who heals.” For Israelites, the bitter river of Mahra was turned into sweet water. God gave the message through Moses: “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26).

Jehovah Tsidkenu: This wonderful name appears in Jeremiah: 23:6, which tells: In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Saviour. So, our God is a righteous God.
Thus, our verse for today is just two names: Jehovah Rapha and Tsidkenu.
