About

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

Mandy shares her reflections on this verse…

In recent years we’ve seen some disturbing social trends take place in our country, and even more disturbing is the leaning of many Christians embracing these trends and even championing them.

Social trends during ancient Rome were also very disturbing, and Paul had to teach believers not to be conformed to what was going on around them. What I know about Ancient Rome is that it was both permissive and dangerous, and Paul warned believers not to embrace those trends.

It’s important to understand what’s going on in our society for sure, but if I’m confused about what my viewpoint should be, as a Christian, my guiding light is God’s Word. What does He say about marriage, children, paying taxes, being honest, immorality, killing babies and the elderly, family, business, human government?

When I find out what the Bible says on those and other issues, I’m supposed to conform to it. I’m not allowed to try and make God’s Word conform to the world and the political and social trends of the day.
