When Everything Looks Dark
“Did you know that in the kingdom of God, sometimes things look really bad? And then they seem to be getting even worse. Before God starts to work and do His miracles,” Andrew says. Focussing on how God is working behind the scenes, Andrew teaches us from 1 Samuel 28: Now Samuel had died. And all Israel had lamented for him and buried him in Rama, in his own city.
Israel grieved its greatest prophet and seemed leaderless.
God Working Behind the Scenes in Israel
Andrew believes Samuel was a “one-man army” who “stood before King Saul… and said, ‘God’s going to rip the kingdom out of your hand. You disobeyed God.’ He wasn’t afraid of the king’s army.” His fearless ministry prepared Israel for restoration even among the rising threats.
Trusting God When All Seems Lost
“On the surface… this situation looks really bad. And David’s just a guy in the forest with a couple of hundred men. There’s no guarantee he’ll ever be king again. But look what happens. God is working.”
Even though Samuel was gone and Saul’s reign faltered, God raised David up and united the nation, ushering in its golden era.
Hold Fast to His Promises
“You might read the news and think the world’s getting darker,” Andrew says. “But just like in ancient Israel, God is working behind the scenes and He’s preparing miracles in your life. We must believe His word will come to pass.”
