With talk of a global downturn and rising cost of living pressures, many Aussies are feeling unsure about the future. On this episode of 20Twenty Alex Cook from Wealth With Purpose joined us to share some tips on how believers can invest with purpose and navigate this season with Godly wisdom.
Alex believes that Christians need to think differently when it comes to money. “The Bible teaches us to be faithful stewards,” he says. “That means managing what God has given us in a way that brings Him glory.”
Investing With Purpose
While markets are volatile and the economy faces uncertainty, Alex encourages Christians not to panic, but to stay grounded in Biblical principles. “When you invest,” he says, “ask yourself, is this something God would want me to put His money into?”
Alex warns us that many common investments like index funds can unknowingly support industries that go against Christian values. “I think many Christians would be shocked if they knew where their money was actually going,” Alex says. “We’re called not to conform to the world, but to honour God, even with our finances.”
Alex recommends a more intentional approach that includes investing in companies or causes that align with Christian ethics. “It’s not just about avoiding the wrong things,” he says. “It’s also about finding opportunities to make a positive impact.”
Pressing in to God
The economy may be uncertain, but Alex reminds us that our hope is not found in which investment option we choose. “Tough times are an opportunity to press into God,” he says. “We’re not promised an easy life, but we are promised that God is with us. So ask yourself, are my finances aligned with God’s Word?”
He also challenges Christians to continue being generous, even when times are tight. “This is when the Church can shine,” he says. “Who can we help? How can we be a blessing to others?”
