On this episode of Enjoying Everyday Life, Joyce Meyer talks about how we can embrace God’s transformative grace and the new life that He offers us. Everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes can make us doubt our relationship with God.
But Joyce wants to reassure us that no matter our failures, God is always there to lift us up and help us grow. “All we have to offer is sin and misery,” says Joyce. “But in exchange for that, God gives us back righteousness, peace and joy, justification, sanctification, redemption, renewal and restoration. He gives us a brand new start.”
Joyce points out that when we lack a sense of righteousness, we can feel insecure, and that insecurity can lead to unhappiness. Not just for us but also for those around us. “We don’t see insecurity as being a problem that we can overcome,” she says. “Or a problem that we should confront with Christ. But He wants us to be confident, not insecure. He wants us to be bold. He wants us to know who we are in Him.”
Insecurity is a common problem today, but we can’t let it control how we treat others. Joyce shared some of her own experiences of insecurity and how they affected her relationships, making her overly sensitive to what other people said or did.
Embrace God’s Transformative Grace
We can’t let insecurity keep us from moving forward. We need to break free from fear and act as the confident children of God that we are meant to be. If we don’t deal with our insecurities, we can end up feeling stuck and we won’t be able to fulfill God’s plans for us.
“If you hang on to that timidity and fear,” says Joyce, “and all these bad feelings about yourself, you’re not going to be free. Satan is going to steal the destiny that Jesus died to give you. But you can stand up, and have the life that God wants you to have.”
Joyce challenges us to trust in God’s promises, reminding us that our beliefs should take precedence over our feelings. We can pray with confidence and claim God’s abundant promises, knowing that He can do abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine.
“You decide how you’re going to live and your feelings will catch up with it later,” says Joyce. Don’t wait until you feel like it. Everything in God’s entire economy is believe first, see later.”
