Nearly 5,000 churches have united to help reach nearly three quarters of a million people with the Gospel in the African nation of Zambia.
More than one third of them — 240,000 — made decisions to follow Christ.
The churches partnered with evangelist Andrew Palau who leads the Luis Palau Association, during the five month Love Zambia campaign in five cities from May to September.
The ministry invited more than 60 partner evangelists from 11 nations to help lead Gospel rallies in the cities of Kalulushi, Mufulira, Chingola, and Ndola.
The culmination of the crusade was a three-day festival at the National Heroes Stadium in the capital Lusaka which attracted a crowd of around 375,000. Nearly 155,000 made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
The outreach also went inside prisons, medical clinics, orphanages and schools and held events for street kids. It also conducted a digital evangelism campaign online.
At the Mwembeshi Correctional Facility, Andrew Palau shared the Gospel with 1,600 inmates, nearly 1,100 of whom surrendered their lives to Christ, according to organisers.
“It was such a receptive group (the inmates). They are engaged in the Gospel message, and actively dancing to the worship music. These crowds can be tough, but in this group, you could feel a sense of joy as they laughed and joked, fully tuned in to the message,” the evangelist posted on his ministry’s social media page.
Bibles for the World played a vital support role by providing 310,000 Gospels of John and 30,000 New Testaments in three languages to help new believers grow in Christ.
The Palau Association plans similar outreaches in Argentina, China, the Dominican Republic and the US state of Nevada.
