The recent landmark ruling by Britain’s highest court legally defining a woman by her biological sex, has given new impetus to a campaign and petition to “Restore the Sex-Based Rights of Women and Girls” in Australia.
Christian commentator Bill Muehlenberg observes in The Daily Declaration that it is one of “at least three terrific wins when it comes to the gender wars” in recent days.
He writes that: “For far too long, the sexual activists have been having one win after another, destroying the institutions of marriage and family, and putting women and children at very real risk.”
SIGNIFICANT PRO-WOMEN ACTIONS TAKEN IN UK, US AND NEW ZEALAND
“Three nations have just seen significant victories for some sexual sanity, with the radical trans agenda being given a few big hits.”
As well as the huge victory for common sense in the UK, across the Atlantic the Trump Administration is suing the state of Maine’s Department of Education for not protecting women and girls in sports.
The federal government has already taken steps to withhold funding from Maine.
Across the Tasman, New Zealand’s associate health minister Casey Costello has directed Health New Zealand to stop referring to women in its official communications by “ridiculous” alternative names such as “pregnant people”, “people with a cervix” and “‘individuals capable of childbearing”.
The minister directed the government agency to use “clear language” when referring to women.
“Only women can get pregnant and birth a child, no matter how they identify,” she asserted.
“HOPEFULLY OVERSEAS VICTORIES WILL BOOST CAMPAIGNS IN AUSTRALIA”
Bill Muehlenberg writes that: “For far too long, Australia has also succumbed to mind-numbing silliness, when it comes to trans ideology and radical sexual militancy.”
“Various pro-family and pro-women’s groups have long been fighting some of this craziness, and hopefully, these overseas victories will embolden them to keep working to protect Australian women and children.”
Christians and others opposed to gender ideology can show their support by signing the petition to Restore the sex-based rights of women and girls.
It was launched by the Women’s Forum Australia (WFA) on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in late November.
“MEN WHO IDENTIFY AS WOMEN HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN WOMEN.”
In launching the petition WFA Chief Executive Rachael Wong declared:
“Laws and policies that allow men to identify as women, threaten safety, privacy, dignity and fairness for women and girls, and are utterly incompatible with efforts to end violence against them.”
“These laws and policies are being weaponised by activists to silence opponents.”
“The reality is, that men who identify as women, now have more rights and protections than actual women.”
“Enough is enough.”
PETITION SEEKS URGENT LEGISLATIVE CHANGES BY NATION’S LEADERS
The petition which targets federal, state and territory jurisdictions, calls on politicians and their leaders to protect women and girls.
“Sex-based rights and protections have been eroded across Australia with the introduction of sex self-ID laws allowing men to legally self-identify as women,” the petition explains.
It notes that protections for gender identity have superseded protections for biological sex in anti-discrimination laws.
it is addressed to the prime minister, premiers, first ministers and opposition leaders.
Signatories note that:
“We have seen the unjust reprisals faced by women both in Australia and internationally who speak out about biological reality and the harms of men identifying as women, including vilification, defamation, doxxing, assault, censorship, legal harassment, and loss of employment.”
“We call on you to urgently act to protect the rights and safety of women and girls by restoring them and their sex-based rights and protections in laws and policies across Australia.”
Around 3,500 people have signed the petition.
WFA is aiming for at least 5,000, but hopefully many thousands more to strengthen its case.
