About

While the Albanese government is being applauded from many quarters for its bill that places an age restriction on opening social media accounts in a bid to protect children from online bullying, it hasn’t done the same to prevent them from accessing other potentially ‘harmful’ internet sites where they could be exposed to pornography and extreme violence.

It has also repeatedly refused to back an inquiry into medical gender transition treatments on children involving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and irreversible surgeries.

This week it did so for the fifth time after a motion was moved by Senator Pauline Hanson following what she called new evidence of the risks and harm caused by these treatments.

Australian governments have ignored independent overseas inquiries that prompted the UK government to ban puberty blockers and, most recently, the New Zealand Health Ministry to advise caution with their use.

Most of our lawmakers don’t want to discuss caring for babies born alive after a failed abortion.

The Greens tried this week to discharge a bill to mandate that those babies be cared for and Labor supported them.

The bill only survived because some independent and small party Senators feared such a precedent would make it harder for them to introduce private members’ bills in the future.

A similar bill was defeated in Queensland as most Opposition benches around the country have also been reluctant to engage in a culture war over gender and abortion issues.

Christian commentator James MacPherson writes: “It sounds to me like kids’ safety is being used as a backdoor for the introduction of a Digital ID.”

He also observed that politicians are desperately afraid of a discussion about gender theory lest they are forced to explain what a woman is.

“With a few exceptions they do NOT want to be in a position where they have to say that trans women are not women, lest the Woke hordes turn on them.”

“So, they would rather turn a blind eye to the lifelong medicalisation of children than open up a discussion that could force them to admit inconvenient biological truths.”

The commentator concluded in The James MacPherson Report republished in The Daily Declaration: “It’s a deliberate incuriosity carefully cultivated to protect illogical and inhumane ideologies.”
