Last weekend’s Hope for the Illawarra celebration attracted 7,800 people to three events with more than 1,000 individuals responding to a Gospel invitation to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Around half the attendees heard keynote speaker, US-based evangelist Dr Michael Youssef, conclude the outreach.
He was ordained in Wollongong 50 years ago and is now senior pastor at The Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, Georgia and also heads US broadcast ministry Leading The Way.
The ministry posted that participants worshipped together and heard a bold, uncompromising word of Truth & Hope from Dr. Youssef who delivered a Spirit-filled message that stirred hearts and transformed lives.
The Gospel was preached without compromise. The Truth of God’s Word was proclaimed. And the name of Jesus was lifted high!
We pray that what God has ignited during Hope for the Illawarra through Dr Youssef, Leading The Way, and local churches will fan into flame ongoing evangelism across the region.
Dr. Youssef declared he was the servant of the local pastors.
He frequently says: “There is no power on earth greater than the power of the Gospel!”
“And it’s your faithful prayers and generous support that help make this eternal impact possible.”
Hope For The Illawarra was a partnership between Leading The Way and churches in the Illawarra.
A youth celebration featured Sydney evangelist Dave Jensen as the main speaker and a children’s event included a talk by children’s minister Reverend Adam Jolliffe and music by Colin Buchanan.
Leading The Way acknowledged its collaborators: “Our sincerest gratitude to our Kingdom building partners Excelsia University College, Anglicare Sydney, Bible Society Australia and Pulse 94.1.”
“Our heartfelt thanks to Whitefield as our worship band across the weekend and our ministry partners unceasing prayer and generous support . You all made an eternal difference!”
