American churches from small congregations to multi-site megachurches are reporting record Easter attendances.
No official figures are available, but anecdotally, many pastors are posting on social media that their churches have been packed.
Crosswalk Headlines writes that from Texas to Tennessee, Oklahoma to Ohio — they consistently reported what one leader called a “seismic shft” in attendance at Easter services.
“Record Breaking Attendance at our Easter Service today,” reported Rosevine United Pentecostal Church of Bronson, Texas.
“We were blessed with record attendance today,” shared the Church of Christ at Freewill in Gainsboro, Tennessee.
First Baptist Church in Newcastle, Oklahoma and Bridge City Church in Nashport, Ohio posted about their record numbers, as did The Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Live Oak, Florida.
PASTORS OPTIMISTIC EASTER CROWDS COULD SIGNAL STIRRINGS OF REVIVAL
Many pastors are optimistic the large turnout signals the stirrings of revival.
Lakepointe Church, a multi-site congregation in Dallas, reported 3,146 first-time decisions for Christ at its Easter services.
“We just experienced something I’ve never seen before. Tidal wave. Kite caught in a hurricane of grace,” posted senior pastor Josh Howerton.
“In group texts with pastors from all over the country: record attendance, salvations, zeal, momentum. The tide is turning,” Pastor Howerton wrote.
“I daresay this may be more than a ‘vibe shift’. Tectonic plates shifting.”
“FIRES OF REVIVAL ON THE CUSP OF SPIRITUAL AWAKENING”
Legacy Pastor of First Baptist Church (FBC) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, O.S. Hawkins observed: “A little over a year ago FBC Ft Lauderdale was down to a few hundred in attendance.”
“This weekend they filled this building Friday night and in two services this morning.”
“A miracle in the making!!”
Jack Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, posted a video of a packed worship service at FBC Fort Lauderdale, as evidence of a spiritual awakening in America.
“I’m seeing reports like this from all across America. It’s more than the usual high attendance at Easter.”
“We are seeing the fires of revival burning and are on the cusp of Spiritual Awakening,” Pastor Graham wrote.
“Young men in particular are experiencing a hunger for God. it is a Jesus movement in the making.”
HUGH TURNOUT COINCIDES WITH POLLS SHOWING BELIEF IN JESUS ON THE RISE
Crosswalk Headlines reports the massive turnout coincides with surveys showing belief in Jesus is on the rise across the nation
A recent Barna Group survey found 66% of American adults saying they have made a personal commitment to Jesus that is still important in their life today.
That’s a 12% increase on 2022 and the highest recorded level in the poll since 2012.
A Lifeway Research poll found that 90% of pastors ranked Easter as the time of their highest attendance, followed by Christmas (81%) and Mother’s Day (51%).
Among the reasons given for the high Easter turnout are tradition, family expectations, recognising it as a historical event, or a desire to acknowledge and celebrate the meaning behind Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.
