Alice Springs Is Ripe For Revival

by | May 26, 2023

Alice Springs Ripe For Revival

Kathy and her husband Gerald are missionaries from America currently residing in Braitling in the Northern Territory. They are pastors at the River of Life Church in Alice Springs and believe that a revival is coming to Alice Springs.

‘We were dropped in the centre of the continent here seven years ago, and within the first week, I turned on the radio to try to find a Christian radio station,’ said Kathy. ‘I was really shocked to find a Christian radio station broadcasting all the way here in Alice Springs.’

While the media has been reporting that crime is escalating in Alice Springs, Kathy said the time is ripe for revival.

‘Everything is lining up for a great revival here. Revival has to come where there’s darkness and where there’s oppression, and where people are really in need. We’re at that point,’ said Kathy. ‘Things calmed down a bit around Christmas. The first part of the year was really getting bad. Things have calmed down as far as crime. It’s getting better. We’re planning a lot of youth activities, youth rallies, and outreaches. We’re excited about it. We have teams coming to help us. So, it’s ripe for revival.’

Kathy encourages others to donate to Visionathon by using the example of Mark 4:3-8 about the parable Jesus taught of scattering seed. Kathy said that Vision, by broadcasting God’s Word, is sowing seed continually every hour of every day.

‘Other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundred times as much.’ Mark 4:8 NASB20

Jesus taught that some seed falls by the wayside. Some think the seed is rubbish and go to another channel. Some people receive the seed and start to produce some fruit but don’t continue. Other people get choked away by other things. But there are some that are going to produce fruit. Things are going to happen in their lives as a result of that word.

The thing about radio ministry is that we may never know the result, but we need to sow seed just the same. The darker things get, the brighter God’s light gets.

Kathy was pressed to donate to Visionathon because so many times she had the intention to give but never followed through.

‘When God moves on your heart to give to follow through with it,’ said Kathy. ‘I’m listening in the car, and then by the time I get back to the office, I get caught up in all the things that are pastoring and ministering, and it slips my mind. But the other day, as Visionathon started, I said this is it because you’ve been such a blessing to us.’

Visionathon happens just twice a year, with donations covering 90% of Vision’s annual costs. The donations that come through are from everyday people like you who know the power of sharing the good news of God across Australia. We hope the Holy Spirit stirs you to support us by making your tax-deductible donation right now, or even going the extra mile by becoming a monthly giver.

You can respond now on the phone at 1800 316 316, at vision.org.au or in the free Vision Christian Media app. You’ll be helping people look to God daily as we believe and work together.
