On this episode of Sunday Morning Together, Pastor and Vision Chaplain Cindy Kujawa shared her reflections on the reality motherhood and the faithfulness of God.
In Philippians 4:19, Paul writes, “This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
As we reflect on Mother’s Day, these words feel especially meaningful. Paul knew what it meant to depend on God’s provision in every circumstance. Not just for himself, but for those under his care.
The Reality of Motherhood
Cindy remembers a family trip to Canada where her family visited the Coca-Cola Tube Park. It was massive. Snow-covered mountains, undulating slopes, people racing down on toboggans. Looking down from the top, it was both exhilarating and terrifying.
“In the end, you either just jump or you chicken out,” Cindy said. “So I decided to jump, and I was praying all the way down to God. Would He just keep me on that toboggan and get me safely to the bottom?”
To me, motherhood can be just like that ride. Whether or not you’re a parent, life often presents moments that are both thrilling and frightening. “It’s the most exciting, fulfilling gift. But it can also be the greatest challenge of all.”
I’ve experienced both the greatest joys and the deepest failures as a mother and a daughter. Just like I had little control over the toboggan, there are so many moments in parenting where we feel out of control. But we can trust God.
God’s Provision is for You and Those in Your Care
Paul’s words remind us that God’s supply isn’t just for us. It’s for our children and those in our care. “Whether they’re physically, biologically your children, or a work colleague, neighbour, niece or nephew… know that God has got you. And He’s got them too.”
Paul had seen God’s provision through persecution and hardship. And his letter to the Philippians wasn’t just hopeful. It was rooted in experience. That same God is still providing today.
A Prayer for Your Journey
“Lord, my prayer this morning is that Your hand, Your grace, Your provisions would be there for each one of these listeners today. Be their protection, their provision, and their direction.”
Whatever season you’re in, newborn chaos, teenage rebellion, or needing to make a U-turn, know that “He will supply all your needs from His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Amen.
