Remembering Billy Graham

Vision Christian Media CEO, Phil Edwards shares his tribute to Billy Graham....

One day you will hear that Billy Graham has died. Don’t believe it. On that day I will be more alive than I ever will be” That day has come as Billy Graham enters into the presence of the Lord and hears the words from his Lord and Saviour “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

When I heard the news of Billy Graham’s passing early this morning my mind immediately went to his faithfulness, commitment and legacy – especially as I think about my own father who came to Christ at Dr Graham’s 1979 Sydney crusade (in the pouring rain!)

Vision and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association have worked together to produce a special tribute honouring his life and legacy, hosted by former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson and myself. It’s well worth a listen.

During his ministry nearly 215 million people packed stadiums, arenas, and other venues in more than 185 countries and territories to hear him. And Billy Graham’s message to people was simple – “I have one message: that Jesus Christ came, he died on a cross, he rose again, and he asked us to repent of our sins and receive him by faith as Lord and Saviour, and if we do, we have forgiveness of all of our sins."

There was always an urgency within Billy Graham – an urgency to tell as many people as possible about God’s love for them, about finding peace and hope in Jesus Christ.

Please join us in upholding the Graham family in prayer, and in praying that Billy’s work would continue through how we each honour the Lord’s call to share the gospel individually and collectively through ministries like BGEA and Vision.
