About this time last year we featured an interview with MAF CEO Ian McDougall, sharing about their amazing work over the past 75 years, and some of the challenges they face today. Then, just before Christmas MAF received a cheque for $200,000 with a simple not that said “I heard you on Vision. I love what you do. May this bless the organisation!”. Understandably they were stunned, and it was a real answer to prayer for Ian and his team.
Katrina and Isac Condesse are missionaries working in Beira, Mozambique helping churches there develop strong children’s ministries. Last year, a deadly cyclone killed 1300 people and destroyed 90% of Beira’s infrastructure. Their house plus 6 of their 20 partner churches were now rubble. Neil Johnson interviewed Katrina on Vision’s 20Twenty program about their work and situation. The story moved the hearts of two Vision listeners who between them gave over $10,000 to assist in the rebuild. “God has provided and has been faithful!!!” Katrina said.
Youth camps can have an amazing impact on the faith of young people. But Covid-19 threw a spanner in the works for TeenStreet 2020. After prayer and creative thinking, the Teen Street team created an online event and reached out to Vision to help get the word out. The result was teens from across the country taking part!
“We only heard about TeenStreet on Vision Christian Radio. We are so glad we booked our girls. They have been so encouraged in their faith. They have thoroughly enjoyed every part of it, from amazing and inspiring guest speakers, diving into His Word through the main talks, to the NET groups and interactive groups. Both girls were encouraged taking part in the early morning prayer sessions also.” – from a Vision listener.
Just before Christmas last year, Vision’s Take Away Hunger Day highlighted the plight of children starving in refugee camps in Uganda, and invited Vision listeners to help by supporting Feed the Hungry with a donation – setting an extra place at their Christmas table.
The Vision family responded with gusto giving enough to feed over 17,000 kids every day for an entire month! What an honour it was for us to be able to facilitate this initiative!
Reaching Take Away Hunger Day Target
Each August for many years now we’ve been helping get the word out about people living with cataract blindness in poorer countries like Nepal, Vietnam and Tanzania through CBM’s Miracles Day. With the impact of Covid this year, we had wondered if the donations would be down.
But instead, like the churches of Macedonia who gave generously even in the midst of their troubles (2 Corinthians 8:2), the Vision family stretched themselves to give even more than last year! Enough was given to restore the sight of almost 6,000 people through the work of CBM. Praise God.
