‘Stay away from complaining and arguing.’ Philippians 2:14 TLB

If you are not the one being laid off: Implement the ‘No Complaining Rule.’ Chances are, there’ll be people around you looking for opportunities to grumble about the company. Don’t be one of them. ‘Stay away from complaining and arguing.’ Don’t let other people’s negativity influence you. Work at tuning out pessimism and focusing on doing your best every day. Make yourself indispensable by working hard, staying positive and contributing to the overall success of the company. If you are the one being laid off: It’s ok to let yourself feel angry, sad and upset for a few days. Then let it go. Jesus said, ‘…forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in Heaven will forgive your sins, too.’ (Mark 11:25 NLT) Maturity is having the ability to bear an injustice without wanting to get even. Forgive the company. Forgive your boss. Release the bitterness. You can’t create the future by dwelling on the past. Ask yourself what you can learn from the experience and use the challenge to look for new opportunities. John Gardner said, ‘We are not at our best perched at the summit; we are climbers at our best when the way is steep.’ Who knows, your next move may lead to a new and more rewarding career or more time with your family or a better location. ‘We…make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps’ (Proverbs 16:9 NLT); ‘Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.’ (Proverbs 16:3 NLT) ‘…with God all things are possible.’ (Matthew 19:26 KJV) You are the only one who can limit your future!
