Five Infallible Proofs for the Resurrection

Text size: A- A+

‘…He…presented Himself alive…by many infallible proofs…’ Acts 1:3 NKJV

In Jesus’ day when a carpenter completed a job, it was customary for him to wash his hands, dry them on a linen cloth, fold it, and leave it on top of his work. That cloth was his trademark; whoever inspected it knew the work was finished. On Easter Sunday Peter ‘…saw…the burial cloth that had been around Jesus’ head…folded up by itself…and believed.’ (John 20:6-8 NIV) Scientists say that infallible proof comes from getting the same result from repeated experiments and multiple confirmations. Here are five infallible proofs that Jesus rose from the dead. First, Mary Magdalene encountered Him. Secondly, the women at the grave saw Him. Thirdly, the disciples talked with Him. Fourthly, the apostles met Him. Finally, 500 people witnessed Him at one time. ‘…He…presented Himself alive…by many infallible proofs, being seen by them…’ Christ’s resurrection is the foundation of our salvation and the hope upon which our eternity rests (Romans 10:9-10). Paul writes, ‘…Christ died for our sins…was buried…rose again the third day and…was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present… After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me…’ (1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NKJV) At an Easter service in Bangladesh the congregation wept at the crucifixion scene in the Jesus film. Suddenly a little boy at the back jumped up and shouted, ‘Don’t worry, He gets up again. I saw it before!’ Rejoice, it’s Easter. He got up again-and we will too!
