‘Do not be anxious about anything…’ Philippians 4:6 NIV

Dr word4U2day is guessing you wimped out on taking yesterday’s advice in trying to kick the ‘worry bug’. As your unofficial, unqualified GP, Dr word4U2day would like to warn you once again that ‘worry’ can seriously damage your health. It’s medically proven that worry suppresses your immune system; worry elevates blood pressure which in turn creates cholesterol that blocks your arteries. So, if you weren’t worried before, you are now! John writes: ‘…I pray that… you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.’ (3 John 1:2 NAS) Why would he say that unless there’s a connection between your body and your spirituality? Before you think ‘this is getting a little too hug-a-tree-hippy for my liking’, stop and think about it. When you worry, your mind is far too loud and busy to hear the still voice of God, so you’re robbed of peace. When you worry your physical body is more prone to illness, so you’re not fighting fit when it comes to spiritual opposition. Can you see where this is heading? Worry is a spiritual matter. Anxiety is a weapon the enemy is firing at you to stop you receiving all that God has for you. ‘…listen closely to My words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body.’ (Proverbs 4:20-22 NIV)
