How often do they run?
We typically run one or two tours each year, but tours are only confirmed when enough expressions of interest are received. Tours generally run in the months of April or October - when the weather is mild and settled in Israel.
How much do the Israel tours cost?
Vision’s Israel tours are excellent value with many inclusions. The final cost of each trip depends on lots of factors, including the value of the Aussie dollar. We suggest a budget of around AUD$7,000 per person, which covers flights, twin share accommodation, breakfast, dinner, tips, tours and transfers. If you’re travelling as a single person and would prefer to room alone, then a single supplement of around AUD$1,250 would also apply. On top of this you will need to arrange your own travel insurance and allow money for personal spending, drinks and some lunches.
What's covered in the cost of the tours?
The tour packages typically cover the majority of your costs, including return economy class airfares, airport and departure taxes, good quality hotel accommodation (including buffet breakfasts and dinners), comprehensive sightseeing tours (with headsets so you can hear the commentary), transfers and transport, robe hire and baptism certificates (at the Jordan River), entrance fees to all museums and sights we visit, three lunches, and tips and gratuities.
Breakfast in Jerusalem
The price excludes beverages with meals, anything you decide to do outside of things in the itinerary, single supplements, travel insurance and personal incidentals. For the optional extension, there is also a visa entry cost.
What kind of places do you visit on the Israel tours?
We try to give you a real sense of the Holy Land, and its place in God's plan. We'll visit places central to the Gospel, like Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Galilee; follow in the footsteps of the Patriarchs, Judges and Prophets of Israel; and use those experiences to come to a deeper, richer understanding of God's Word. There is an incredible layered history in Israel. For example the place where the giant fish spat Jonah onto dry land is not far from where St Peter saw his vision of unclean foods, yet many centuries separate these Biblical accounts.
How safe is it?
Contrary to the impression given by news media, Israel is actually a very safe place to visit. We have been taking groups to Israel for many years now and know this to be true. We work closely with expert local guides who would never put any of our tours in a position where safety might be at risk.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Smartraveller site is a good place to be informed about International travel including any current warnings and risks. It's always a good idea to organise comprehensive travel insurance too. The standard of medical facilities in Israel is generally high but doctors may require an upfront payment before commencing treatment and costs can mount up. And you should check with your own GP before you go to make sure any vaccinations required are up to date.
Is there time in the schedule to see things alone?
Yes, the schedule is organised in such a way that you can take time out to visit areas of special interest to you. However, the cost of these (such as travel and entry) is not included in your tour package price.
