A newly married couple from the UK are cycling from London to Tokyo to raise money for international development charity Mercy Ships.

Matt and Coco Morley have already completed more than 4,000 km of the 10,000 km journey.

Christian Today reports they have managed to overcome challenges including flat tyres, food poisoning and even getting stuck in tar.

After being forced to delay their wedding due to covid the couple was determined that the pandemic would not prevent them from supporting those most in need.

Mercy Ships is providing world-class health care services for the needy, especially in Africa, and the couple wanted to support the mission.

They are covering all costs themselves and will donate all fundraising to Mercy Ships.

The global charity has operated hospital ships in developing nations since 1978.
