Evangelist Franklin Graham is pleading with the American people to turn to God to heal the wounds caused by what he calls the ‘political hatred’ gripping his country.

He said he’s never previously seen such animosity in US politics.

“I’m just disappointed in politics in America. When you think of the divisions that we have, we need to be coming together to try to solve the problems that we face as a nation.”

“It’s very disturbing to me, and I think the only hope for this nation is God and to turn to Him and to ask Him for His wisdom. And that’s my prayer — that this nation will turn to God, because He’s the only one who can lead us out of the problems we’re facing.”

The evangelist also stressed he wouldn’t be taking sides in the 2024 presidential election because he’s a genuine political independent and has been for the past 20-years.

“I’m staying out of the Republican primary and debate and that sort of thing. I’m focusing on what God has called me to do, and that’s to preach the Gospel.”

Faithwire reports Reverend Graham was speaking at a ribbon cutting for a new extension to the Billy Graham Library, named in honour of his father.

He was accompanied by former vice president and devout Christian Mike Pence.

Franklin Graham noted: “There are a number of Republicans that have great leadership abilities, but Mike Pence has served this nation, and he’s served it well.”
