News Journalist – Writer (Full-time)
Vision Christian Media is looking for a talented and gifted journalist to join our ministry news team as News Reader/Writer. The position is a newly created role dedicated to producing our national Christian worldview news service.

The Opportunity
This is a team member role, working with Australia’s most successful national Christian media ministry. Your mission is to serve in collaboration and be part of a national news team whose primary purpose is to provide a Christian worldview news service and content to internal and external stakeholders.

The successful applicant will also have a strong focus on sound biblical teaching and a clear Christian worldview and practice, for integrity and accountability.

This is more than just a job; it is a ministry opportunity and part of a personal calling and gifting in journalism and media news services.

The Role
This role is responsible for the formation and delivery of Vision Christian Media’s News

Service in a professional and effective manner, in keeping with our guidelines, to internal and external stakeholders under the direction of the News Editor. Firstly, this means working closely with your News Team members on a daily basis for the preparation and presentation of news content, website articles and broadcasts, team support, preparation and presentation of other content and regular review and coaching to ensure compliance and standardisation of services offered. It also means playing a role in future development/expansion of news and other services offered to all stakeholders and ensuring cross-ministry communication.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Degree in Journalism or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in radio news preparation and presentation.
  • Strong writing and editing abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated maturity in Christian faith and understanding.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite and NewsBoss.
  • Experience with audio production.
  • To-camera presenting experience.
  • Experience in Christian Media or other Ministry.
  • Have drivers licence and car and able to travel if required.
  • Work full-time with flexibility for a variety of early and late shifts, including rostered weekend work.
  • Willingness to align with our organisation’s mission, values, and core beliefs.

The Role
The role will build on the successful applicant’s core journalism strengths and develop skills to a standard that enables the solo production and presentation of news bulletins, programs and interviews. This one/two-year cadetship program will include being trained and mentored by senior journalists in the various areas of news including the production of radio news bulletins and related content, including writing, reading, recording, editing and handling.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Some media experience.
  • Some experience or qualifications in broadcast journalism.
  • Be mature in Christian faith and understanding.
  • Excellent general knowledge.
  • Good people skills – able to deal with others and the general public well.
  • Good administration skills.
  • An ability to work under pressure/within tight deadlines.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Be competent with Microsoft Office Suite and NewsBoss.
  • Journalism tertiary qualification or relevant degree.
  • Audio production experience.
  • Video production experience.

NATIONAL PROMOTIONS COORDINATOR (Full-time)

Vision Christian Media is looking for a talented and gifted marketing professional and event planner to join our ministry team as our National Promotions Coordinator. The position is a newly created role dedicated to promoting our media ministry services and the good news of God across Australia.

The Opportunity
This is a team member role, working with Australia’s most successful national media ministry. Your mission if successful is to serve in collaboration with the Partnerships and Marketing departments, to deliver market awareness and brand-building activities through planning, coordinating, and executing a twelve-month national calendar of events and specific promotional activities. (I.e. Event launches, event sponsorships, local area programs; conferences, trade shows and community pop-up stands).

The successful applicant will also have a strong focus on sound biblical teaching and a clear Christian worldview and practice, for integrity and accountability.

The Role
The role is to establish and drive nationwide events and conference strategy that increases the number, loyalty, participation, and retention of new audiences and supporters; while building brand awareness and reach of our media ministry services in every state around Australia. This will include arranging point of sale conference displays, targeted promotional programs, new station launches, and actively networking throughout the Christian community. Aligned to this, the role is responsible to oversee the planning and execution of conference and sponsorship negotiating, supplier sourcing, logistics, quality control, and set up of all Vision’s pop-up stands and stalls. Overseeing total event management and interrelated community relations activity.

Requirements for the role
The ideal applicant will have/be:

  • Appropriate sector qualification in marketing, PR or event management.
  • Proven experience in event management planning and delivery.
  • Planning budgets and managing promotional campaigns.
  • Have drivers licence and car and able to travel by airplane regularly when required.
  • Able and willing to physically set up pop-up stalls and display stands.
  • Computer literate and competent with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experienced in working with people, and maintaining good client relationships.
  • Willingness to investigate and recommend ideas where appropriate.
  • Confident outgoing personality, strong communicator and negotiator.
  • Proven experience in relationship management, building loyalty, and support.
  • Good time management awareness and ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Strong self-awareness and highly motivated in the pursuit of excellence.

VOLUNTEER ROLES

Receptionist (Volunteering Opportunity)

Vision Christian Media is looking for professional and friendly people to join our growing ministry team. As our first point of contact, the reception team is responsible for welcoming our supporters, visitors and service providers to our Brisbane premises but also assists in a number of administrational responsibilities supporting the ministry’s growth.

The Role

To be successful in this role, you will have, excellent administrative skills, and the ability to utilise a variety of computer systems efficiently and accurately. Also, be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal direct supervision and competing priorities and deadlines. A strong focus on customer service orientation is essential, as the role heavily involves interacting with supporters, consumers and service professionals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a high level of attention to detail will be a great asset but above all have a heart to serve our amazing supporters and customers in a manner that reflects Vision’s mission and calling.

The ideal volunteers will have:

  • Experience with frontline customer services and support.
  • Experience in answering incoming phone calls and transferring inquiries.
  • A friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to assist with general administration tasks.
  • Availability to volunteer 4-hour shifts, either in the morning or afternoon or full days.
  • Provide a National Police Check or willing to obtain one.
  • Willingness to align with our organisation’s mission, values and core beliefs.

PRAYER LINE TEAM
Brisbane-based, Ongoing

Do you have a heart for prayer, an ability to listen and compassion for people in need?  Serving in our prayer call centre can be a very rewarding and fulfilling experience as you help people bring their needs to God. Anyone with a caring heart can be part of our prayer team – we’re not a counselling or advice service, it is simply about listening to and praying with people in need, asking God for His help or thanking Him for what He has already done.

Our prayer service operates Monday to Friday 9 am – 7 pm QLD time. As a volunteer, you will be part of a team rostered on a 4-hour shift on a weekly/fortnightly basis depending on your availability.

Training and support are provided. Computer literacy for this role is helpful but not essential. Applicants should have a sound Christian faith and align with our Mission, Vision, Values and Core Beliefs.

CUSTOMER SERVICES TEAM
Brisbane-based, Ongoing with flexible hours

Vision is powered by a sizeable support community and our Partnership Services team spend their day facilitating their support, responding to calls, letters and emails, processing donations and more. Our supporters feel that we are their friends, because we treat them that way! The team has a strong service and ministry focus and sometimes find themselves praying over the phone with someone who has a need, in between administrative tasks.

Our aim is to provide excellent customer service by exceeding expectations, always endeavouring to respond to each one of our supporters as representatives of Christ.

We are currently looking for volunteers with good computer literacy and excellent communication skills. Hours are flexible and dependant upon availability.
