Barbara from Aveley in WA is a Visionathon first-time giver who’s only been listening to Vision since last year when her new car caused her anxiety.
Barbara was born in Zambia, Africa, and has been living in Australia for 21 years. She grew up in a Christian family and has been a Christian since she was seven. Life was going fairly smoothly for Barbara until things took a dramatic turn.
‘Last year, for some reason, all of a sudden, when I would be driving, my back would twinge. I would be so nervous and scared that I would pull over on the side of the road and not drive,’ said Barbara. ‘So I questioned myself, What’s happening to me, Lord? What is it? I couldn’t find an answer.’
As time went by, through much prayer and the help of a good friend, Barbara finally realised that she had become obsessed with her new car.
‘I wanted this car so much that the car became my idol,’ said Barbara. ‘All I could think about was this car I wanted to buy. Then when I bought the car, these back twinges started happening when I started driving the car. That’s when a bell rang in my head, and I thought, You’re putting this car first before God. And then I was like, Wow, no wonder this is happening.’

The good thing that came out of driving her car was that when her friend took her for a drive, she asked Barbara if she had ever listened to Vision Radio. Barbara had never heard of Vision Radio, but she was immediately hooked. She loves the music and Robbo and Becci’s Rise and Shine show.
It’s amazing how God sometimes has to take drastic measures to take our eyes off worldly things and distractions so we can focus back on Him.
