As Christians, we’re not immune to the storms of life. Mary from Alstonville, NSW, shared how she got through her grief after she lost her husband a few years ago.
‘It was a terrible storm, but you just know that you’re upheld by the Lord through the illness and all the stuff you have to go through,’ said Mary. ‘I felt His presence with me. And I couldn’t have done it without Him. I’m sure I would have been a bubbling mess. And I had the support of my amazing family and friends and church. So, I’m good, and he’s great.’
Mary listens to Vision from the minute she wakes up every morning. She has a little transistor radio that she takes with her when she leaves the house so she can tune into the local Vision towers wherever she goes.
‘Vision keeps me going. The stories and the worship are such a great help to me,’ said Mary. I was listening to a song the other morning, and it brought me to tears. It was an old Keith Green song that was just beautiful. That’s the sort of thing that gets you going and keeps you going throughout the day. You’re connected to the Lord straight away.’
Mary’s donation allows Vision to be able to shine the Gospel to every corner of Australia, even places like Alstonville in New South Wales, where Mary listens. Donations help put fuel in the tank to bring that worship music and the right word at the right time to make an eternal impact.
People hand over money for all sorts of things every day, often without really even thinking about it. But a donation to Vision is worth stopping to think about. It’s far more than just a financial transaction; it’s an investment in helping people focus on God. It’s helping people like Mary who have lost a loved one. It sort of carries them and gives them a virtual radio hug and the support and encouragement they need.
‘I gave the amount that the Lord wanted me to give,’ said Mary. ‘At first, I thought, it’s a bit of a big amount. But then I remembered that the Lord had blessed me with an extra day’s work this year. And as a result of that, it’s not my money. It all belongs to the Lord anyway. I’m just giving back. And I thought, well, it was sitting there. Why not do it? It’s the Lord’s money. I’m just giving it back to Him.’
