Vision supporter Ellie phoned in with her donation to Visionathon today, because she believes it’s so important to get The Word For Today into people’s hands. In fact, Ellie used to come in to Vision herself as a volunteer to help pack and send them out.
Ellie had cut back to part-time teaching and was helping pack the devotionals as a way to give back some of her spare time. ‘Somebody in my church had been giving The Word For Today out and asked if I wanted to take it on. So I came to speak to Vision, and I just sensed the Holy Spirit the moment I walked through that door.’
In her history with Vision, Ellie has also travelled to Israel on a trip led by Mandy. ‘It brings tears to my eyes that when I think about walking the steps that Jesus walked.’
In recent months, Ellie lost her husband, but she takes great comfort in listening to Vision and reading The Word For Today. ‘In those deeper struggling times when nothing else matters,’ says Ellie, ‘you just call out to God and He is just so incredibly real and intimate.’
Ellie says the words from Vision often jump off the page for her, and are consistently relevant with her everyday circumstances. ‘It doesn’t matter where you’re at,’ she says. ‘The message fits with your life. How can that be? Because God is amazing.’
